Terms
The terms these pages are used under. They are short because most of what is below is built into Hoam rather than promised here, and each section names the part of Hoam that does it, in this page’s source.
Who may hold an account
Hoam is for adults. You must be 18 or older to hold an account. An account belongs to one person and is reached by one email address; it is not to be shared or handed on.
A home is yours to hold here once a card has reached you at the address on file for it — the home itself, or an owner’s address of record — or once somebody already verified at that home has sent you a link. Nothing else verifies a home, and no home may be claimed on somebody else’s behalf.
What Hoam is, and what it is not
Hoam puts a homeowners association’s own records where its members can read them, and lets verified households take part under a byline. It is independent: not published by any association, board or management company, and no association funds pay for it. Nothing here is an official association notice, and nothing here obliges an association to do anything.
These terms are between you and Tessera Systems, LLC, the company that operates Hoam.
It is not legal, financial or tax advice. The records are the association’s own documents: every figure is shown against the document it was read out of, and a figure that does not add up is not shown at all. An advisory poll is not a vote — elections, recalls and amendments to the governing documents are run by an independent inspector of elections and never here.
What you may post, and what you may send
A posting is about a thing, a task, a day or a question. It is never about a person or their conduct. Nothing on Hoam is for sale between neighbours: no price, no payment and no fee.
Post what you would stand behind. One photograph on a posting, added as it is written; a reply and a letter carry none. A link is yours to vouch for. Harassment, abuse, advertising and spam do not belong here, and neither does anything that names or identifies a neighbour.
A letter goes to one household, which may accept it, answer it, or decline it — and a decline is final. Nothing here calls a message private, because that is not a promise this site can keep.
What you post stays yours
What you write or add here is yours. By posting, replying, sending a letter or proposing a document you give Tessera Systems, LLC a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store it, to show it to the people these pages say can see it, and to keep the copies the privacy page describes for as long as it says. That is the whole of the licence: nothing you write is sold, used to advertise, or shown outside the association it was written in — except a letter, which reaches the household it was addressed to.
An association’s records stay the association’s. Hoam shows them to its verified members under Civil Code §§ 5200–5240, adds nothing to them, and a record can be taken down.
Reports and holds
Anybody verified in an association can report a posting there. Three households reporting the same posting hides it from everyone except the person who wrote it, who is told it was hidden and when the hold lapses. A report is answered the same way every time and never with a count: nobody learns who reported a posting, and a reporter never learns whether anybody else reported the same one, or what happened next.
Removing a posting is the writer’s own act, and every posting and every reply carries the control for whoever wrote it. Hoam can also take something down.
Stewards
A steward adds a document, dates a thing and corrects a figure, and confirms what a neighbour proposes: a record, another steward, the address an association publishes its calendar at, and what the association has as a place. A steward does not delete, rank, summarise or moderate, and nothing a steward does is the association speaking. Anyone may propose; a steward confirms.
Your account
Write to support@go-hoam.com to have the display name your neighbours see changed, or your account removed. A new name reaches what you write next and never what you have already written. A removal ends every home you have verified and takes your postings and replies with it; the few things it leaves behind are set out on the privacy page.
Availability, and changes to these terms
Hoam is provided as it is. Parts of it may change, and it may stop. These terms may change too, and the date at the top is when this version took effect.
Responsibility
Hoam carries what members and their associations put here. To the extent the law allows, Tessera Systems, LLC, which operates Hoam, is not liable for what a neighbour writes, for a document an association published, or for a decision taken on a figure read here. Every figure on these pages names the record it came from: read the record before you rely on it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of California.
